Dennis Quaid: 'The Kids Are Fantastic'

Dennis Quaid, whose newborn twins Zoe and Boone were hospitalized after a medication error last year, says that now "everyone is doing great" – and the only problem for him and his wife Kimberly is sleep depravation.

"The kids are fantastic and really healthy and happy kids," the actor said at Friday in Santa Monica at a press event for his new action thriller, Vantage Point.

"I've just been sleep-deprived…Last night, was the first night they slept all the way through the night, from 7:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.," he added while raising his arm in the air in celebration.

Quaid, 53, who also has a son Jack Henry, 15, with ex-wife Meg Ryan, admits that the second time around, it does get a little easier.

"Well I don't know if it's better but it's a lot easier," he said. "It's easier in the sense that … when the first one comes along you worry about everything. The second ones come along, 'Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah that's fine, seen that, done that'... You're a little more relaxed about it. But with two, you need another arm."

The other problem with twins? Telling them apart, cracked Quaid. "One's wearing blue, the other one's wearing pink," he joked. “But you’d still be surprised [with] people, because they don’t want to make a mistake, they go.'Oh, that’s the...a girl isn't it?’”
